NA-246 By-election will decide future of Karachi: Imran
KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that the by-election in NA-246 will decide the future of Karachi.

Addressing the press conference at Dr. Arif Alvi’s residence, Imran Khan said the upcoming by-election holds extreme importance for Pakistan reiterating his earlier stance that winning or losing makes no difference to his party.

He added that Karachi’s trend of violence and fear has to change. He questioned whether businessmen of the metropolis will continue to go about their business travelling in armoured vehicles because they are afraid for their lives.

He stressed that his party has never taken up arms and the people of Karachi should give his party a chance so PTI can restore the city to its former glory and status as the ‘city of lights’. He added that the NA-246 by-election will decide Karachi’s future.

Before Imran Khan addressed the press conference, Ali Zaidi and Imran Ismail addressed the media highlighting alleged rigging plans they claimed to have discovered.

Ali Zaidi alleged that national identity cards of NA-246 voters have been confiscated ahead of the elections to force votes to be cast in their favour. He added that a plan is in place where voters will cast blank paper instead of their votes and will sneak the ballot papers out of the polling station. He demanded that Rangers and law enforcement agencies conduct random frisking of voters to address this issue.

Imran Ismail alleged that four ghost-polling stations have been identified identifying one to have been shown on paper as a college but according Ismail it is in fact an MQM office. He alleged that MQM has been receiving votes from people who passed away 8-10 years ago.
