Rangers give 9 day deadline to Karachiites to surrender illegal weapons
KARACHI: Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh Major General Bilal Akbar has given a nine-day deadline to the residents of Karachi to surrender their illegal weapons.

Karachiites have till April 30 to submit the weapons as the DG Rangers has cautioned that some licenses issued by arms dealers were fake. According to DG Rangers the weapons used in target killing in the city were illegal.

On Monday, a Rangers spokesman warned citizens of Karachi to keep their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) with them at all times to avoid arrests.

The spokesman said in a statement that any person failing to produce his identity card on demand will be arrested. A photocopy of the CNIC would not be acceptable, he added.

Seeking support of the citizens, he said that the law enforcement agencies were working day and night to eradicate terrorism and crime from the metropolis.
