No more mobile SIMs will be verified after May 15, says interior minister

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that May 15 is the last day for any cellular SIMs to be verified, whether to reopen a SIM or simply verify an unblocked SIM.

Addressing a meeting at the Interior Ministry regarding bio-metric verification of mobile SIMs, he went on to say that no more SIMS will be verified after this deadline.

According to sources, action will be taken against the cellular company if their unregistered SIM is used in any terrorist activity.

As many as 70 million SIMs have been registered so far whereas some 20 million unregistered SIMs have been shut down.
