Judicial Commission summons 13 witnesses on May 6
ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission that is probing the alleged rigging of 2013 general elections has summoned 13 witnesses on May 6 to record their statements.

According to sources, summons have been issued to the concerned people for appearing before the JC on May 6. The application for summoning these personalities had been submitted to the JC by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Those who have been summoned include, among others, former caretaker chief minister Punjab Najam Sethi, former national assembly member Nabil Gabol, former caretaker chief secretary Punjab Javed Iqbal, additional former caretaker chief secretary Punjab Rao Iftikhar, and Geo News senior anchor Hamid Mir.

The JC, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk and comprising Justice Amir Hani and Justice Aijaz Afzal, had directed the PTI to present their witnesses on May 5 and submit their names on May 2. The PTI complied with the orders.

Earlier, the JC, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, had sent a questionnaire to all the political parties and directed them to submit their replies by April 29.

Later, the commission observed that the replies submitted by most of the political parties were not in line with the terms of reference.
