Zardari’s big-heartedness got Mirza Badin's seat: PPP

KARACHI: Female MPAs of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Sunday said it is the big-heartedness of the party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari that the former PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza had secured Badin’s seat.

Addressing a press conference in reaction to the derogatory statements of Zulfiqar Mirza against the PPP and its Co-Chairman, PPP leader and Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza accused Mirza of ‘drilling a hole in the same plate in which he eats’.

Shehla Raza was flanked by other female PPP leaders including Sharmila Farooqui.

They likened Zulfiqar Mirza with ‘a snake that attacks its own protector’.

Shehla Raza said Zulfiqar Mirza had spent time today with the murderers of the brother of Javed Nagori.

Sharmila Farooqui on the occasion warned that no one including Zulfiqar Mirza should commit the mistake of considering themselves above the law.



Badin situation tense

The situation turned tense in Badin city on Sunday after police reportedly tried to arrest a supporter of former Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza.

According to our correspondent in Badin, police tried to arrest Nadeem Mughal, a supporter of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, but his colleagues helped him escape.

Shortly after the incident, the former Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader, accompanied by his gunmen, forced shopkeepers to shut down their businesses in Badin city.
