Shahbaz strongly opposes NA-125 verdict
VIHARI: Following his party’s decision of challenging the verdict of an election tribunal in the Supreme Court regarding holding re-polls in the NA-125 constituency, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that he strongly opposes the verdict.

Speaking to media representatives at the Circuit House here, he said that he did not want to disrespect the judge, who issued the verdict. However, he added that he had serious reservations over the matter.

Faisalabad Election Tribunal judge Javaid Rashid Mehboobi had declared null and void the results of the 2013 general elections on NA-125 and ordered a re-election on Monday.

The tribunal judge also ordered re-poll on the Punjab Assembly’s PP-155 constituency.

Hamid Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had challenged the victory of the PML-N's Khawaja Saad Rafique, claiming that the election in 2013 had been rigged.

Saad Rafique had bagged 123,416 votes from the constituency beating PTI’s Hamid Khan who secured 84,495 thousand votes.
