FBR Intelligence Directorate issues notice to Axact's channel
KARACHI: Directorate General Intelligence of the Federal Board of Revenue has issued a notice to Axact’s TV channel, accusing it of importing machinery and other equipment illegally.

Seeking receipts and other documents related to the import of all the goods, the notice alleged that import duty and taxes were also not paid by Axact’s channel.

The Axact scandal came to light when the New York Times published an investigative report claiming that the Pakistani IT company had made millions selling fake degrees online.

Following the NYT story, Pakistan authorities were quick to act as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch a probe into the fake degree scandal.
