SHC rejects IGP Sindh’s apology on high court siege
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday rejected the apology of IGP Sindh Ghullam Haider Jamali and other police officials on the siege of the high court.

The IGP had offered his apology as the police had failed to protect the SHC when masked policemen assaulted Zulfiqar Mirza’s guards and journalists outside its premises on Saturday.

Justice Sajjad Ali remarked that the IGP was responsible for the incident and along with other police officials should be indicted.

During proceedings on Monday the SHC had asked the top policemen of Sindh and Karachi to provide the name of the officer who had ordered the action.

A heavy contingent of police backed by Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and masked personnel of the Special Security Unity (SSU) on Saturday besieged the SHC building and rounded up over two dozen supporters of former Home Minister and disgruntled PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza while journalists covering the incident were also subjected to manhandling.
