Axact scandal: FIA, FBI to meet in 48 hours
ISLAMABAD: Teams from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI) will meet here in the next 48 hours, Interior Ministry sources revealed to Geo News.

The FIA team will seek the FBI’s assistance in the Axact scandal case. The meeting will take place at the US Embassy where FBI personnel work in the legal attaché section.

The US Embassy has confirmed that they are in contact with Pakistani officials over the Axact scandal.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had announced that Pakistan would seek FBI assistance in the Axact scandal.

On Tuesday, the Pakistani government also contacted Interpol to investigate Axact’s bank accounts abroad. Interpol has also been requested to investigate internet domains used by the IT company’s websites.

British authorities have also been contacted to verify a university, whose whereabouts were found through Axact’s records.

The Axact scandal came to light with the New York Times published an investigative report claiming that the Pakistani IT company had made millions selling fake degrees online.

Following the NYT story, Pakistan authorities were quick to act as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered the Federal Investigation Agency to launch a probe into the company.
