Unofficial results pour in as counting underway in KP LG polls
PESHAWAR: Unofficial and unconfirmed results from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's local government election have started pouring in as vote count continues at over 11000 polling stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Polling for Local Body elections in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa began at 8am on Saturday (today) and concluded at 5pm.

The elections at Village and Neighbourhood Councils were held on non-party basis whereas on party basis at Tehsil and District Council level.

84,420 candidates were in the field for 41,762 seats and 11,211 polling stations were set up.

Eight killed, 80 injured

Eight people lost their lives in various incidents of violence during the polling process. Sources confirmed, 5 people were killed in Charsada, 2 in Dera Ismail Khan while one person lost his life in Kohat. In other incidents, 80 people were injured, 30 in Peshawar while 50 in other areas of the province.




ECP takes notice of polling time being extended in Nowshera

The ECP took notice of the polling officer’s decision to extend polling time by two hours in district Nowshera. The ECP said only those people who are present inside the polling station will be allowed to vote.

Polling time has been extended at all stations of district Nowshera. The district polling officer said voters could cast their votes till 7:00 PM.




ECP receives over 300 complaints from Peshawar

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that over 300 complaints had been received from district Peshawar. The complaints focused on mismanagement, rigging and firing outside polling stations in the district.




Polling stopped at union council Rashakai in Nowshera

Polling was stopped at polling stations in union council Rashakai in Noweshera. Polling was stopped after workers from different parties broke ballot boxes and set fire to votes.

The army has taken the remaining ballot boxes into their possession.




One killed after firing at Kohat polling station

A person was killed after an incident of firing at a polling station in Kohat. Police said two people were also injured in the incident.




Three women injured in Peshawar

Three women were injured when contesting candidates fought outside a women’s polling station in the Nasapa area.




Incidents of violence reported at polling stations

According to reports, at least eight people were killed and 80 others injured in violence across the province during the polls. Three people were shot dead in Charsadda, two in Dera Ismail Khan, one in Kohat and two others in different areas.

Thirty people were injured in the provincial capital while 50 others were reported to have sustained injuries in other parts of the northwestern province of the country as different groups clashed during the poll.

Army was called in after two groups clashed at the polling station established at Government High School no.4 in Abbottabad.

Fights between political parties also resulted in polling being suspended at some stations in Lower Dir and Charsadda.
