CPEC ‘unacceptable’ to India, Modi tells China
NEW DELHI: Indian External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj has accepted that India strongly opposes $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Addressing a press conference here, Sushma Swaraj said that during his visit to China, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised "very strongly" the issue of the CPEC to Beijing and told them that it was "unacceptable" for India.

She went on to say that India had summoned Chinese envoy to register protest over the multi-billion dollar project, while Indian ambassador to China had also lodged protest with China.

Meanwhile, in a reaction to Indian External Affairs Minister statement, spokesman for Pakistan Foreign Ministry Qazi Khalilullah has said that both Islamabad and Beijing are committed to the implementation of the CPEC project.

He said CPEC will not only benefit Pakistan but the entire region.
