Govt preparing legal reference against Altaf Hussain's speeches: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Tuesday that government is preparing a reference for legal proceedings against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain's contentious speeches.

Speaking at the Rawalpindi Police Lines, Nisar said that there was no personal enmity with either the MQM or its chief and that Altaf Hussain was facing a legal and not a political case.

The interior minister said that matters exacerbate when the MQM chief ridicules national institutions. He said that the government cannot allow anyone to harm the sanctity of national institutions.

Nisar said that the government had not created the money laundering case against Altaf Hussain.

He said that the British police had commended Pakistan's cooperation in the investigation of Dr Imran Farooq's murder, and that it had written a letter to Pakistani authorities.

He said that the murder case purportedly had some links to Pakistan, but the matter will not move forward until UK provides tangible evidence.
