Kashmiri leader Masarat Alam re-arrested immediately after release
Masarat Alam Bhat, a Kashmiri Hurriyat leader who was arrested for raising Pakistani flag, has been re-arrested and shifted to an undisclosed location, Indian media reported on Tuesday.

The High Court of Indian-occupied Kashmir had quashed Masarat’s detention recently. He was arrested on April 17 for waving Pakistani flag in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the senior Hurriyet leader and chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League was re-arrested in the Kot Bhalwal jail premises by Indian police.

JKML spokesman Mohammad Rafiq Ganai, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said: “The draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) on Masarat Alam was quashed by the High Court recently and when a copy of the court order was produced before the jail authorities they set him free.”

However, he added that a police party re-arrested Alam in the jail premises and took him away to some unknown destination.
