PTI demands Rangers deployment prior to NA-122 by-poll in Lahore
LAHORE: Former Governor and chief organiser of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Punjab chapter, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Tuesday said situation can turn violent if the Rangers paramilitary force is not deployed in the city prior to NA-122 by-election on October 11.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid here, Sarwar alleged the provincial government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of resorting to violence against the PTI workers in the face of defeat.

“The government has resorted to torturing the PTI workers, which reflects their fear of defeat [in the upcoming by-polls in NA-122 and PP-147],” he said.

The former governor claimed that PTI worker Muhammad Akbar had died due to police torture.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashid claimed that the government was trying to spread fear among the PTI workers.

The two PTI leaders were of the opinion that such incidents would have never occurred if culprits within the police ranks were taken to book after the Model Town and Faisalabad incidents.
