Ghulam Ali cancels Mumbai concert after Shiv Sena protest threats
Pakistani Ghazal legend Ghulam Ali decided to cancel his show that was supposed to be held in Mumbai on Friday, following threats of protest from India’s extremist group Shiv Sena.

Ghulam Ali while talking to Geo News on Wednesday said the purpose of his concert was only to pay homage to the Indian Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh (late).

According to Indian media, Shiv Sena demanded that Ghulam Ali be stopped from performing in India which, the outfit said, had no interest whatsoever in promoting cultural ties with Pakistan.

Shive Sena came out with a threat that in case Ghulam Ali’s show is allowed to be held in Mumbai, there will be a protest demonstration.

Shive Sena had, on many occasions in the past, issued similar threats against Pakistani artists. The group’s protest in July this year had also prevented release of Mahira Khan starrer Pakistani film ‘Bin Roy’.
