PPP, PTI agree to form united opposition front
ISLAMABAD: In a bid to have a joint stand on important national issues, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have agreed to form a united opposition front.

The decision was taken at a meeting between delegations of the two parties here on Tuesday.

Speaking to media representatives after the meeting, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed khursheed Shah of PPP said that they will move forward by taking all opposition parties onboard.

“We will talk about noncompliance of the government on various issues and violations of rules,” he said, adding that a monthly briefing on electoral reforms committee will also take place in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion, PTI Vice-President Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the opposition should have unified stance on matters of national interest in the Parliament.

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was not fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities on vital national issues. Qureshi vowed to table a joint-resolution over non-issuance of NFC awards and lack of Council of Common Interests (CCI) meetings.

The PTI leader went on to say that decision taken at the all parties conference (APC) were not being implemented over China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Qureshi said the masses were being burdened of an additional Rs40 billion only on the IMF’s behest. He asked the government to take the Parliament in confidence if they wanted to bring a ‘mini budget’.
