ECP summons Pakistan Army for local government elections in Karachi

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared 1791 locations extremely sensitive ahead of the Local Government Elections and has summoned the Pakistan Army to assist during the elections.

The ECP has declared, 1791 areas including Lines Area, Landhi, Ghans Mandi and Liyari as extremely sensitive and have summoned 20 companies of the Pakistan Army to be deployed in the city for the polls, the Secretary ECP Babar Yaqub confirmed on Saturday.

According to sources, it has been decided that arms licenses will be suspended during the LG polls in Karachi.
