Joint PTI-JI rally culminates near Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi
KARACHI: A joint rally led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir, Sirajul Haq after passing through various parts of the city culminated near Quaid’s mausoleum here on Saturday.

PTI leader Imran Ismail said the decision to end the rally was taken after a consultation between the leadership of the two parties headed by Imran Khan and Sirajul Haq.

The rally was organized ahead of the upcoming Local Government elections in Karachi scheduled for December 5.

Imran Ismail said the rally had a presence of large number of people and that the administration had requested not to enter Mazar-e-Quaid. “The administration said there is a red alert at Mazar-e-Quaid,” he added.

He announced that PTI Chief Imran Khan will undertake visit of different parts of the city on Sunday and later address a public meeting at Kakri ground, Lyari.

Earlier, in his address to the rally’s participants, Imran Khan said such a system will be implemented in Karachi that will eliminate the need for Rangers presence in the metropolis.

He claimed that PTI has reformed the police of Khuber Pakhtunkhwa and vowed to do the same for police department of Karachi.

Imran Khan said in just one year’s time KP has witnessed 60 percent decline in the crime rate.

He said he did not expect such a big crowd would turn up to welcome him in Karachi.

JI Amir Sirajul Haq in his address said the upcoming LG polls will revolutionize the metropolitan city.

Describing Karachi as mini-Pakistan, he said progress for Karachi means progress of Pakistan. “We will restore Karachi’s historical role,” he vowed.

He called for placement of Rangers inside the polling station during the upcoming LG polls in Karachi.
