Siraj wants govt to take up Bangladesh executions at int’l forums
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir, Sirajul Haq on Sunday demanded of the government to take up at international forums the issue of executions of opposition leaders in Bangladesh.

Addressing participants of a sit-in being staged here to mark protest against executions in Bangladesh, Sirajul Haq regretted that over 25 workers and leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami have so far been hanged in Bangladesh.

He said those who put up fights against Mukti Bahini in Bangladesh were being punished for showing loyalty with Pakistan.

The JI Amir said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif issued statement in favour of liberal Pakistan in a bid to appease the US. “His statement was tantamount to rubbing salt to the wounds of Kashmir mujahideen,” he added.

He said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Shahryar Khan and other Pakistani officials were disrespected in India. He wondered as to what are the weaknesses on the basis of which ‘we allow ourselves to be degraded just for the sake of playing cricket’.
