‘Father of PTV’ Aslam Azhar passes away at 83
ISLAMABAD: Former managing director of Pakistan Television, Aslam Azhar – considered to be the father of PTV – passed away on Tuesday at the age of 83.

His funeral prayers will be offered in the federal capital on Wednesday.

Born in Lahore to a government servant in British India, Azhar studied law at Cambridge University and later worked for the Burmah Oil Company.

After Joining PTV in 1964, he took it to great heights. He was given "Tamgha-e-Pakistan" for his services in 1968.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid have expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Aslam Azhar. They prayed eternal peace for the deceased and commiserated with the bereaved family.
