Will not be deterred by TTP threats: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said he would not be deterred by threats being made by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The TTP has threatened to attack government, police and military officials if the widows of the late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden were not released from Pakistani custody.

Speaking to the media after visiting the NADRA headquarters, Malik said the government had an obligation to protect and respect the family of Osama bin Laden who were in Pakistani custody.

The Interior Minister added that if there was no trial held for the widows of Osama, then there would be an accusation that the government was supporting them.

Malik had on Thursday said Osama bin Laden’s three widows had been charged with illegally entering and living in Pakistan.

“They (the wives) were presented before the court. After that, they are on judicial remand, and are being kept in a proper, legal manner,” Rehman Malik told reporters.

“Cases have been registered against the adults, not the children,” he added.
