Dr Shakil Afridi's life under threat: report
PESHAWAR: An intelligence agency has submitted a report to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti detailing threats to Dr. Shakil Afridi's life, Geo News reported.

According to the report, there are 3,000 detainees at the Central Jail Peshawar and many of them have negative sentiments towards Dr. Afridi.

Chief Minister Hoti has issued directions to provide security to the doctor as a high-profile detainee. The jail authorities have provided two unarmed security guards to him.

The tribal authorities had jailed Dr. Shakil Afridi for 33 years for agreeing to try and collect DNA for US intelligence in their bid to locate Osama bin Laden.

Afridi's jailing has exasperated the US, where the Senate Appropriations Committee has voted to cut US aid to Pakistan by a symbolic $33 million - $1 million for each year of jail time.
