The Supreme Court has directed Attorney General Irfan Qadir to set the machinery of the State in motion so that all those who may have committed any illegal acts, including Malik Riaz, Dr Arsalan, Salman Ali Khan (Riaz’s son-in-law) are pursued and brought to book with the full force and rigour of the law.

However, the order clearly states that all three are entitled to the due process of law and are to be deemed innocent until proven guilty after a fair trial.

The 14-page order states that Malik Riaz tried to buy justice by offering bribes. ‘The one who gives bribes as well as the one who takes bribes are doomed to hell fire,’ the order said.

The order further said that Malik Riaz had accepted that despite spending more than Rs340 million he could not get relief. However the documents submitted by Riaz only provided details of Arsalan’s visits and not of monetary transfers.
