Karachi : Twin blasts leave Eight dead, 22 hurt
KARACHI : A young girl and seven others were killed while more than 20 people mostly women and children, suffered injuries in twin bomb blasts that exploded near Hyderi market, Geo News reported Tuesday.

The injured and deceased were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed and Ziauddin hospitals.

According to the Bomb Disposal Squad, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) packed with ball bearings were used in the deadly attack.

According to police, the Bohri Community was the target of these bomb explosions.

The bombs went off within minutes of each other in the usually crowded Hyderi Market. According to the police, the first bomb was planted on a motorcycle while the second – a lower intensity bomb – was planted near a tree.

Rangers personnel and police arrived at the scene and carried out rescue and relief services.

Shops in the nearby market closed down immediately after the explosions.
The powerful blasts destroyed two vehicles and damaged several others parked nearby while window panes of the surrounding buildings also shattered.

Police have already launched an investigation into the explosions.

It may be recalled that police recovered and defused a bomb from the same
location on the 13th of August.
