Obama meets Myanmar president on historic visit

YANGON: US President Barack Obama met Myanmar's reformist leader Thein Sein on Monday during a landmark visit to Yangon aimed at encouraging political reforms, an AFP reporter said.

Obama, who held talks with Thein Sein at Yangon's regional parliament building, hopes to embolden the former general to deepen the country's march out of decades of military rule.
