Conduct door-to-door voters' verification in Karachi: CJ
ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan during proceedings of the Karachi voter lists case urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to conduct door-to-door verification of voters in Karachi.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said Karachi was the face of the country and if peace is not maintained in the city, then the national economy will be destroyed.

In his remarks, the Chief Justice also said that according to the constitution electoral lists should be prepared every year. He added that the apex court had received several complaints about the voters' lists in Karachi.

The Chief Justice also advised that the army be used during the voter verification process in Karachi adding that the services of the army could resolve the security situation and other issues present in the city.
