New provinces will be formed according to wishes of people: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: PML-N and opposition leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar says new provinces will not be formed according to the wishes of a Makhdoom but rather according to the wishes of people.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament, Nisar said the PPP and its allies were not interested in forming new provinces and just wanted to make this an issue during elections. He added that the PML-N was in favour for forming a Southern Punjab and Bahawalpur province.

“Provinces are not formed by sloganeering, but through the constitution and law.” Nisar added that a unanimous resolution had been passed in Punjab and the PML-N was ready to move forward in accordance with it.

Commenting on the caretaker setup, Nisar said consultations were ongoing with several parties for over two months. Chaudhry Nisar further said that it was the PML-N which held the key to the dissolution of assemblies.

The opposition leader rejected the agreement signed between the government and Tahirul Qadri.
