All stakeholders agree to support democracy: PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Tuesday said with the completion of the tenure of the present government, the democracy has been strengthened and all stakeholders have agreed to extend full support to the democratic system.

Addressing the oath taking ceremony of Gujar Khan Bar Association here at Prime Minister Secretariat, the Prime Minister said,"Democracy has been strengthened and its sapling is gradually taking the shape of a grown up tree with the completion of five year term of the present democratically elected parliament."

There is consensus among the judiciary, armed forces and all the political forces that no other system but democracy is imperative for this country.

The Prime Minister said if all the institutions will work within their constitutional framework then there will be no problem and Pakistan will make progress.

He said, in the past, democratic set up was damaged by outside forces and the country had to face the consequences.

Raja Pervez Ashraf said all the forces are agreed that there is no alternative to the democractic set up and following the next general elections, being held shortly, the people will elect their representatives to take the democratic process ahead in the country.

The Prime Minister said with strong democratic set up and with the completion of the tenure of the democratically elected parliament for the first time in 65-year history of the country, it has been recognized that the affairs of the country could only be run through a democratic system.

He said despite some difficulties, the completion of the tenure of democratic set up will usher in a new era in the country.

Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek administered the oath to the newly elected office bearers of Gujar Khan Bar Association.
