Supported Zardari, but he went against his word: Nawaz
KANDIARO: PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif said that he had supported President Asif Ali Zardari with good intentions but the President betrayed him and went against his word.

While addressing a rally in Kandiaro, Nawaz said that he had told Zardari his vote would remain with him if he managed to lead Pakistan towards progress and development, but unfortunately Zardari failed to do so.

Focusing on the issue of Sindh, Nawaz said when he was prime minister he would tour the province every fourth day, adding that he had managed to eliminate bandit rule from the province and maintain peace in Karachi.

Nawaz further said that although President Zardari himself was from Nawabshah, he had not once inquired about the conditions in the city, adding that during his five year rule, President Zardari had managed to worsen the conditions in Sindh. People in Sindh were unemployed, could not afford a minimum of two meals a day and had a shortage of water, Nawaz added.

While addressing the issue of law and order in Karachi, Nawaz said approximately 300 people had been killed in Karachi in January 2013 alone.

Nawaz further added that the police and institutions had failed in Sindh to such an extent that the Supreme Court had to give orders to arrest killers in province.

Speaking about the Shazeb Khan murder case, Nawaz said that primary accused in the case, Shahrukh Jatoi was only arrested from Dubai on orders of the Supreme Court.

Nawaz also said that he will not allow the division of Sindh, adding that the new local bodies system was unfair on the people of the province, adding that people from the rural areas of Sindh should get the same rights as the people from urban areas of the province.
