CEC, Finance Minister discuss polls budget issues
ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim has met with Finance Minister Saleem Mandviwala in Islamabad on Thursday, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the CEC and the Finance Minister discussed the issue of funding needed by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the coming elections.

The Election Commission has so far received Rs 2 billion out of the required Rs 6 billion and the remaining Rs 4 billion funds have not been released yet.

Brushing aside all the concerns about whether the general elections would be held or not given prevailing situation in the country, CEC Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said there was no uncertainty and elections would be held on time.

The CEC said that the law and order situation in Karachi would not create any hurdle in way of holding elections.

He said that all the arrangements have been finalized for holding general elections.

The CEC was talking to media after meeting with Finance Minister Saleem Mandi Wala today.
