Shahbaz Sharif discusses seat adjustment with Akhtar Mengal
QUETTA: Former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday called on Balochistan National Party-Mengal chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal to discuss seat adjustment between the two parties for the upcoming general election.

Speaking to media after the meeting, The Baloch leader who came in volatile Balochistan province after four year self-imposed exile said that Mr Sharif had formed a committee for seat adjustment while his party would also set up a committee for the purpose.

Mengal said that seat adjustment and others issued related to the election came under discussion during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that Balochistan was the vital part of Pakistan, where military operations were carried out and Nawab Akbar Bugti was assassinated in the past.

He said that resolving problems of Baloch people was the need of time. Mr Sharif recalled that Punjab had given Rs11 billion of its share of National Financial Commission award to Balochistan. He said that development in Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would not be considered Pakistan’s progress if sitautiobn in Balochiistan remained unchanged.

Shahbaz Sharif vowed that they would jointly raise voice to resolve problems facing the province. He said that election boycott by Akhtar Mengal would strengthen “opponents”.

The former Punjab chief minister said that overthrowing Mengal government was not an appropriate step.
