The host, Hamza Abdur Rauf is only eight years old. The talented young boy displays a confident and intellectual personality. Hamza’s companion / co-host is none other than renowned scholar and philosopher Mr. Ahmad Javed. Mr. Javed is a mature, experienced and very well-read individual. Just imagine the lethal combination you get when combining these two elements… that is Hamza’s youthful innocence and cheeky-boy smile with a prim and proper, philosophical icon Mr. Javed. They are indeed a force to be reckoned with.

Together they engage in conversation, discussing subjects like religion, philosophy, science and myth. Their contrasting personalities make the program distinct among other programs on television these days. It is all too often that you find youngsters involved amongst themselves or you find adults trying to reach out to a young audience. It is very interesting to watch.

Hamza shows a growing interest in the world around him and a desire to learn. He is always bursting with questions, like any child his age. Hamza’s hunger for knowledge, strikingly polished young mind, beaming energy and confidence keep the program tempo flowing. His cheeky antics and playful pranks just come naturally. His laughter is contagious and is guaranteed to leave you smiling from cheek to cheek. The spontaneity of the duo’s discussions show that they are completely natural and not framed this rare feature adds life to the show.

Hamzanama is a platform that sets an example to young viewers and their elders that dialogue and discussion is a healthy practice and should be encouraged. Not only can we teach our children, this program shows us that we have plenty to learn from them also. It is very important to view life from a child’s perspective. Openly discussing issues with them and listening to their point of view helps to understand them better and strengthens the relationship. Conducting dialogue in a friendly and casual manner helps get rid of misconceptions that may be harbouring in a child’s mind and also encourages them to share their ideas and opinions.
