Toprak hands over keys of houses to flood victims
ISLAMABAD: The newly built 36 housing units were handed over to the flood victims of the Basti Hesene in Liaqatpur, a remote village of the Punjab, benefiting over 260 vulnerable people.
Hesene’s Chairman Zeki Toprak, handed over keys of 36 housing units to the flood-affected people in a simple ceremony. Accompanying the Hesene chairman were Ufuk Secgin, head of Islamic Community Milli Group in UK and eight-member delegation from various parts of Europe. Besides beneficiary families, the local leadership and heads of the partner organizations in Pakistan also participated in the ceremony.
Hesene Chairman Zeki Toprak said that Hesene is an organization based in Germany founded by the German and Turkish Muslims for ameliorating the lot of vulnerable segments across the globe including Pakistan.
He said a lot more is needed to rehabilitate the flood victims, adding, that his organization would make all out efforts to reach more affecttees through different developmental activities. “I personally visited the flood-hit areas in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa as well as Punjab and deeply moved on the plight of the affected families,” he added.
Sharing his organization’s future work plan in Pakistan, he said that education of the vulnerable and affected children is his top priority while emphasis would remain on quality education to girls to achieve the long term goals.
Zeki Toprak said that they would extend support for education, hygiene and child-centred programmes in its areas of operation in Pakistan, especially the remote parts of the Punjab province.
