First polio case of year 2016 surfaces in Pakistan

KARACHI: The first incidence of Polio for 2016 in the country surfaced on Monday when a 34-month-old infant was diagnosed with the virus in Karachi’s Gadap area.

According to Director Health Services Dr Zafar Ijaz, thirty-four months old child, Ejaz Khan s/o Sher Ali Khan is resident of UC-7 Gadap and he was administered anti-polio vaccine nine times.

Health Department has confirmed the case after positive tests of the minor.
