ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi on Tuesday said Pakistan does not need to pay attention to what the world is saying and only focus on its own interests.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Afridi said, “We sacrificed lives in the War on Terror and its results should come forward. Every nation and its leader has the right to express their views.”

“We have to assure the world and humanity that our sacrifices will not go to waste. We do not need to pay attention to what the world is saying and should only focus on our own interests,” he added.

The minister of state for interior's comments come a day after US President Donald Trump took to Twitter and alleged that Pakistan was one of the many countries that took from the United States without giving anything in return.

Following Trump's tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan fired back and said the US president's "false assertions add insult to injury Pakistan has suffered in the US War on Terror". "Pakistan has suffered enough fighting US's war. Now we will do what is best for our people and our interests," the prime minister said on Monday.
