SC orders re-polling on NA-267 Jhal Magsi

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered re-elections in NA-267 (Jhal Magsi) constituency of the National Assembly.

Last month, the court had reserved its verdict over the petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Khalid Khan Magsi against his disqualification.

The apex court dismissed Magsi’s appeal and upheld an election tribunal’s earlier verdict for re-polling.

Opposing runner-up independent candidate Abdul Rahim had challenged the election results over alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections and the election tribunal had disqualified Khalid Magsi.

Magsi had challenged the ET verdict before the Supreme Court.

Khalid Magsi was elected MNA from NA-267 Jhal Magsi as in dependent lawmaker during the May 2013 general elections and later joined the ruling PML-N party.
