Leonardo DiCaprio is bringing us a Captain Planet movie

There is reason to rejoice for all the 90s kids out there. A Captain Planet movie is on the cards.

According to Hollywood reporter Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions and Paramount are in talks for the rights to the cartoon series which taught children ways to keep the planet clean and green.

The series which continued from 1990 to 1992 revolved around five children who have magical rings with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and heart. With their combined powers they could call Captain Planet who could save the world.

Media reports suggest that the plot will revolve around a Captain Planet who is now old and weak and needs the children more than they need him.

The focus of the movie goes down well with DiCaprio who has spoken for a green planet on several occasions, including a recent meeting with the US President Obama.
