CM Punjab calls shutting down capital 'conspiracy against country'

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that shutting down Islamabad is a conspiracy against Pakistan.

The CM Punjab was addressing a gathering at Expo Centre in Lahore where he said he’s grateful to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz members for being elected party’s Punjab chapter president.

He also said that those who are hurling allegations against Pakistan have written-off loans.

Shahbaz Sharif said that he would leave politics if corruption is proven against him.

He said that the PML-N government is completing development projects throughout Pakistan.

“If there’s corruption of even one rupee proved against me then seize me by my collar,” said Shahbaz.

He also thanked China for its cooperation with Pakistan over development projects.

Shahbaz said that there’s a party that does politics of opposing development projects. He asked those opposing the projects “to have mercy on the country”.

Earlier today, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan lamented that mystery surrounded the CPEC project and its details were being hidden by the government.

"All of Pakistan wants CPEC. But the PML-N government has signed MOUs without revealing its details," he said.

Apart from this, Imran Khan has announced a protest on November 2 where he says his workers will completely shut down the government machinery in the capital.
