SC dismisses PTI’s Usman Dar appeal against Khawaja Asif's NA-110 win

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the review petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Usman Dar seeking disqualification of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in NA-110 election rigging case.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar upheld the decision by the apex court from last year, when the Supreme Court had rejected PTI’s appeal against Khawaja Asif.

The election tribunal had earlier decided in favour of Khawaja Asif, following which Usman Dar had challenged the tribunal’s decision in the Supreme Court – which the apex court had upheld in November 2016.

PTI’s Sialkot leader Usman Dar had then filed a review appeal seeking disqualification of Khawaja Asif, which was again shot down by the Supreme Court today which endorsed the Defence Minister’s victory in the May 2013 general elections from NA-110 Sialkot constituency.
