Anti-polio drive kicks off in Sindh, Balochistan

KARACHI/QUETTA: An anti polio drive kicked off in Karachi and several districts of Baluchistan on Monday.

A five-day campaign is underway in Karachi in which 51 union councils, including sensitive and very sensitive areas of the city will be covered. Over 865000 children are expected to be covered during the campaign.

This year one polio case was reported from Gadap Town area of Karachi. 

In Baluchistan 10 districts will be covered during the anti-polio drive which began on Monday.

Special arrangements have been made for administering anti-polio drops, particularly in the Afghan border areas of Chaman, Chagi, Noshki and Zhob. The drive will target children entering Pakistan from Afghanistan.

Over 561, 000 children from Baluchistan will be administered the anti polio vaccine.
