ANF foils bid to smuggle 2 kilograms of heroin to Italy

LAHORE: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore foiled an attempt to smuggle over 2 kilograms of heroin to Italy on Friday.

According to sources, four members of the family and three civil aviation personnel were arrested.

ANF personnel confirmed that a family from Lala Moosa in Gujrat intended to travel to Italy via Doha on an international airline.

Personnel deployed at the international search counter, discovered over 2 kilograms of heroin in the luggage of the family. The contraband is said to be valued at Rs. 20 million (approximately $190,000) in the international market.

Upon discovery of the contraband head of the family Maroof Hussain, his wife and two minor daughters were detained by ANF personnel along with three civil aviation employees which include two porters and one electrician.
