Daesh commander accomplices detained, arms seized in Balochistan

QUETTA: Law enforcement agencies on Saturday carried out an intelligence based operation in Nushki, Balochistan and detained seven terrorists including a prominent Al-Qaeda and Daesh commander. 

According to law enforcement sources, the operation was carried out based on intelligence acquired during interrogation of under-custody Al-Qaeda terrorists.

Law enforcers also seized a large cache of arms, ammunition, militant-literature and cash from the detained terrorists. Seized material includes improvised explosive devices (IED), explosive material, 7 AK-47 assault rifles, 1 rifle, 12 gauge rifle, 168 primer cords, 40 hand grenades, 150 rounds of ammunition, 3 swords, 3 telescopes, 2 binoculars, 1 laptop, 15 mobile phones, militant literature and a Daesh flag.  

During interrogation the detained terrorist revealed he joined Al-Qaeda in 2012-2013 and received his initial training in Afghanistan after which he proceeded to Syria where he received more training and then joined the militancy. 

The detained terrorist also revealed that he returned to Pakistan from Syria and was involved in recruiting, facilitation and indoctrination for the Al-Qaeda and Daesh. 

After indoctrination the terrorist confessed he would send the recruits for training to Afghanistan where they were given weapons training and militant training. 

Further interrogation regarding other Daesh and Al-Qaeda militants present in the country is being carried out and steps are being taken to make further arrests.
