It was a fight or flight moment. Constable Junaid Khan chose to fight-- and he saved hundreds of lives.

Early Friday morning on-duty constable Junaid Khan saw a suspicious man trying to enter the district sessions court in Mardan. When he tried to stop him, he blew himself up at the gate.

Twenty-four year old Junaid lost his life-- but prevented what could have been a large scale massacre.

Constable Junaid stopped the suicide bomber at the entry gate and fired at him. The bomber detonated his suicide vest at the gate, DPO Mardan Faisal Shahzad confirmed.

A resident of Mardan, Junaid had joined the police force in 2012.

The two bomb blasts on Friday that hit the courthouse killed 11 people and injured 27.

Two policemen and four lawyers were among those killed in the attack, according to DPO Mardan.

Provincial Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani told Geo News that the attacker first threw a hand grenade and then detonated his suicide vest at the entry gate of the district and sessions court.

The incident occurred a few hours after an attack was foiled in Peshawar's Christian Colony early Friday morning in which four terrorists were killed.

Four suicide bombers with arms and ammunition had entered Christian Colony Warsak at 5:50 AM today, ISPR said. Four suicide bombers were gunned down while a civilian and Levies personnel were killed in exchange of fire.
