NEW DELHI: All 18 Indian Air Force (IAF) airbases along the western border with Pakistan are on high alert, a report in the country’s leading daily said.

Quoting a defence source, the Times of India said the measure part of a major air defence exercise ‘Exercise Talon’ aims to improve operation preparedness in the entire stretch from Indian Occupied Kashmir to Rajasthan.

Described as defensive in nature, a similar exercise was conducted a week before the Uri attack in Occupied Kashmir.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have been high following the Uri attack. New Delhi has accused Islamabad of involvement in the attack prior to any investigation or proof.

Indian is also under scrutiny due to human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir. Since July, over 115 Kashmiris have been martyred by Indian forces with thousands injured. Pakistan has raised the Kashmir issue on the international forum with PM Nawaz Sharif keeping it as the main focus of his United Nations address.
