PML-N, PTI call off protests in London

LONDON: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have called off protests in London which were planned to coincide with the PTI's Raiwind march on September 30.

PML-N UK had announced a protest outside Jemima Goldsmith's house for this Sunday after a group of PTI supporters announced protest on September 30 outside Hasan Nawaz Sharif's flat, but it is understood that the PML-N leadership from Pakistan ordered its UK leaders not to go ahead with the protest in Richmond where Jemima Goldsmith lives with Imran Khan's sons Qasim and Salman.

PTI's UK leader Barrister Waheed-ur-Rehman Mian has confirmed that PTI's Pakistan leadership has not asked for any protests in London.

PML-N UK president Zubair Gull also confirmed the protest outside Jemima Goldsmith's Richmond house planned for Sunday has been called off.

Zubair Gull said: "PML-N leadership from Pakistan has asked us not to hold any such protest. We have been told not to go ahead with our planned protest which was organised for this Sunday. On previous protests we managed to bring over 1,000 people to Jemima's Richmond house and can bring out a larger number now and at any time but we have been stopped from going ahead with the protest by our leadership.

"We have been told by PTI UK leadership that they have not received any instruction officially from Pakistan for protest outside Hasan Nawaz Sharif's flat."

Barrister Waheed-ur-Rehman Mian told Geo News that PTI from Pakistan has issued no instructions to hold a protest in London on September 30. "There is no protest planned at this stage. If our leadership asks us to protest anywhere in London, we will not hesitate but for now we have received no instructions officially.

"I understand that some people have been circulating protest message in the name of PTI outside Hasan Nawaz Sharif's flat, but we have nothing to do with this group and its activities."
