The United States has asked India twice over the last two days not to escalate situation with Pakistan, Indian media reported on Thursday.

US Secretary of State John Kerry has had “two conversations over the last two days” with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj regarding heightened tensions between the two neighbouring countries, said Indian media.

This marks the first time the US has spoken to India at a senior political level after the Uri attack.

These conversations come amid mounting tensions between the two nuclear-armed adversaries over Occupied Kashmir.
