Lahore adminstration warns of possible RAW terror activity during PTI rally

LAHORE: City District Government Lahore has informed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership that Indian intelligence agency RAW has likely planned a terror activity during its rally at Adda Plot, Raiwind Road today (Friday). 

In this connection, Lahore DCO has written a letter (DOC/HC(G)3748) dated September 29, 2016 to Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, PTI’s district president (rural) and informed him about the terror threat. The letter, with subject “terrorist activities against the PTI rally in Lahore,” has been written following the threat alert received from the home department, government of Punjab. 

The home department’s threat alert stated that it has been learnt that RAW in coordination with NDS has planned terrorist activity to target the PTI rally on September 30. 

DCO Lahore’s letter further stated that in another threat alert received from home department, some Afghan nationals are planning transportation of a vehicle to Lahore/preparation for some terrorist activity. Possibility of preparation of the vehicles of VBIED attack in Lahore cannot be ruled out, it added.

The letter concluded that in the wake of threat alerts and security concern, public gathering at Adda Plot, Raiwind Road, is not advised and not recommended.
