Indian rupee takes a plunge as Indo-Pak tensions mount

The Indian rupee slipped by 25 paisa relative to the US dollar as tensions escalated between India and Pakistan following India’s claim of a surgical strike across the Line of Control on Thursday.

The Indian rupee dropped to 66.61 level against the dollar.

India’s stock market nosedived yesterday amid growing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

The BSE benchmark SENSEX plunged 465 points to 27,827 while a similar trend was seen at the National Stock Exchange index Nifty, which dropped by 186 points.
