UP chief minister backs Rahul Gandhi, says BJP politicising 'surgical strikes'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday became the latest Indian politician to speak out against the Mod-led government when he backed Rahul Gandhi's remarks against the Indian prime minister on surgical strikes, saying the Congress leader must have said it after giving much thought.

"It's not a question of Congress but I have good relations with Rahul Gandhi. If he has said something he must have given it much thought. He must have some information about it," Akhilesh said when asked about Rahul's remarks on PM.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Yadav's Samajwadi Party said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was politicising the 'surgical strikes' claim and indulging in "chest thumping, especially in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.
