Labour Party MP from Bradford, Naz Shah said she will ask the British Parliament to shed light on the money-laundering investigation against Muttahaida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder and other party leaders in London.

Speaking to the hosts of Geo Pakistan, Shah said she would ask parliament why no charges were framed when there was so much evidence available.

The British MP did however say that laws in England differ from the laws in Pakistan, adding that it is possible the courts wrapped up the case due to lack of evidence.

On October 13, Scotland Yard announced that no further action would be taken against MQM leaders and the party’s founder in the long running money laundering case, deciding to drop the investigation altogether.

The case against the MQM Chief started in the end of 2012 when the police found a large amount of cash at the MQM’s International Secretariat. Scotland Yard said during the course of investigation that it had “credible evidence that the MQM received funds from the Indian government sources and broke the electoral laws of Pakistan and the UK”.
